Here’s a few shots (untouched, just basically cropped, so some of them still show irritating dust sposts) from Langley AFB this year. I think the most interesting thing there was the RAF C-17, I hadn’t expected to see one of them but I guess it made sense to support the Red Arrows. Speaking of which, the Red Arrows put on a fabulous display, and their announcer was first-rate.
The Heritage Flight did not feature a 1940’s or 1950’s prop or jet, frist time that’s happened that I’ve seen. I am however soliciting captions for the Heritage Flight photo. So far I think I’m going to go with “Boeing: You lose” 😀 See if you can do better if you want a laugh!

With the founder aircraft being at least 28 years old, how long can they continue racking up the stresses that aerobatics impose?
Hi Rob, I think that the Reds airframes are rotated through the RAF fleet and carefully hours and ‘g’ managed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they all had replacement wings (so new spars?) by now to see them through their service life. I know at Shawbury we regularly see Hawks in an out of storage.

Brilliant shots there you two thanks for posting 😎
Eleven reds?
I thought they only had ten, Reds 1-9 which do the display and Red 10 should any of the 9 feel poorly.
I guess you live and learn. :p
Its a spare aircraft 😉 plus Red 10 also does the commentator . Are the Red Arrows getting the new hawk? it be good if they went over to the typhoon 😀 On the shot with the blue smoke & Reds is that a worman in the Red suit so is she the first Female Red Arrow pilot?
It might even be nice if they rebranded the RAFs display team at the same time, so they don’t have to rely so much on a single colour. I know the Reds are well recognised and are even loved by the public, but a rebranding might enable them to adopt more exotic paint schemes. How about simply “The Arrows” or “Britain’s Arrows”?
I dotn think that would happen I think they stay as the Red Arrows for a long time yet to come.

Superb shots there, and nice to see some different angles like the F.15 landing in the background of the flight line.
That Phantom really needs to do a European tour!

They must be just a couple of years away, if not due, to have them all replaced with the latest Hawk incarnation. (Would that make it a Pheonix?)
