Lanzarote March visit (Part 2)-views

Okay here is my second lot of photos from lanzarote taken 2 weeks ago and this selection is from my “viewing” ones.

Over a few years now I’ve been taking these kind of photos to show views other than the regular ones that folk are familiar with so here is a look around for those that haven’t been to Lanzarote Island.

Great shots Fred, these are my favourite kind of pictures where you can see how low they come when on final etc. 😀

Staying in Puerto Del Carmen, and departing at 20.30 on MYT812, what about you?

Staying in Playa Blanca, arrive at around 12:00 midday on FCA 757.

I have say that with the way the weather looks in that LTU “Leverkusen” A320 shot, it could have been taken at Stornoway and not Lanzarote (lol) 😀

Good shots as ever Fred. 🙂

Thanks for that NCL, I’ll add part three later today since I’m nursing a cold and just doing an email check just now.

One of the reasons I was keen to go back to Lanzarote again (apart from getting a heat) was to checkout the big hill at the end of the Runway, for a long time now I’ve thought there were possibilities for photos there but have only ever seen one from it that was on Airliners.

I was pretty confident we would find some different views from there than the norm and it proved to be an interesting spot to visit after figuring out the best route to get there.

I’ll add photos from it before the end of the day.

The r/w approach lights appear to have been replaced in the last 3 years; I remember back in Feb 2002, the lights were on separate stancheons ie. not linked together.

In photo two (first 10) you see a lander coming over the lights in the sea and it’s best to get those kind of shots first thing in the morning as the sun gets in front later on.

The ninth one shows a Monarch A300 and you can get an idea of how close the Main Runway is to the fence, it’s really close there and a struggle to fit things in as they flash past at that point.

1st one of the second lot of photos is a Spanish Air Force A310 climbing up over the hill and you can see the wooden pathway they have put in which wasn’t there the last time I visited, makes it easy to walk from end to end and you get a lot of cyclists using it.

4th one of the second lot of photos shows a good spot to park the car which is what we did, you can see the landing lights in the sea behind.

Yes it is a double fence where you see the First Choice 757 and Transavia 737 landing with the people below, this length of fence is the only one where it is double that gives a problem and you can’t shoot through both so it is an area to forget about.

It’s not a problem though as if you walk under the flight path as you look at these two photos the fence curves to the right and it’s a single fence there, in fact there are a couple of holes in it at a nice spot which gives a very good side on view from about 3-30pm onwards until sunset.

On the higher ground for afternoon there is a double fence there too but strategic volcanic rubble helps get over the two of them and in fact you can stand on much bigger mounds about 30 feet back from the fence and not be too effected by it from there.

Great idea Fred, but is that a dreaded double fence under the First Choice 757?
