Where’s your sense of adventure, man? :diablo:

Frank, Win ME was the “big brother” of Win 98, not Win 95.

I don’t know why they bothered, really. Win 98SE was the best and most stable “home” OS that Micro$oft have produced to date, IMHO.

Yeah, yeah… They’re all the same breed. Operating systems which seem to commiit suicide after a couple of months’ use. 😀

ME was there to add those shine new multimedia functiions. Unfortunately, the bugs came with it.

I expect a lot of head-scratching in the foreseeable future getting my head around a completely new operating system:diablo: .

Set aside the whole of Saturday to get Adell2 up and running but didn’t need to.I’m pleased to say it was so easy, especially for this Luddite.Took out the hard drive from Adell1 and put it in a slim drive enclosure,so now I have an external hard disc too.I’m very impressed with plug-and-play.Had a prob with the touch pad so plugged an ordinary mouse in (it worked straight away) and sorted out that problem in 2 minutes.
Mr Postman also delivered BT Home Hub.Got that up and running in under 30 minutes.I love wireless:D . So far I’m a very happy bunny.

When I read things like this I am reminded why I made the switch to Mac.;)

I ddon’t know why you guys have so many problems.
I have Vista (x64), and, apart for the well known problem where copying files around takes ages (solved by SP1 due out this month), and some crashes of explorer if I plug my phone in (but I’d tend to blame the phone’s software), it runs great.

Many of you obviously never enjoyed the pleasures of Win95, or its fatally flawed big brother, WinME …

Not so Mogs,Adell 2 came with full Windows Vista Ultimate 32BIT,including a back-up disc,(Can’t get over how quiet she is.Adell 1 had her cooling fan running all the time.) which means that she won’t work with my basic BT Broadband connection,so have had to upgrade to BT HomeHub.Still waiting for the “box of tricks” to arrive which will mean even more head-scratching:( .

Dell will supply the machine with XP

I’d strongly recommend that for the time being.

You get a Vista upgrade with it that you can keep until Service Pack 36 is launched for Vista, and thus avoid acting as an unpaid Beta tester.

Pure coincidence…………
Just upgraded from this to a Dell XPS M1530.
Adell 1(Dell Latitude),served me well over the years, running Windows 98,but when some of the essential programs I was running wouldn’t update,I realised it was time to bite the bullit and upgrade.
Adell 2 was delivered yesterday,in all her “RED” glory.
I expect a lot of head-scratching in the foreseeable future getting my head around a completely new operating system:diablo: .
