S.H. Yes, I will go along with what you state, however, I also try, if available to read any reviews from people who have purchased the item I am thinking of buying, as they also give a good idea as to whether an item is any good or not.

And that’s the problem,, isn’t it? We all have different experiences with different machines. The only way you will get an objective overview is by checking with “Which?” or other consumer testing organisations. Personal experience is not always that helpful….

S.H. Pete it was the Compaq of my wifes that gave up the ghost, and it was only 18 months old.
You must have the luck of the Devil,:diablo: some forumite has something like “Don’t ever buy a Dell” as his signature, guess he was not as lucky as you.;)

I have had a Compaq and two Dells in recent years and have never had any problems at all with Dell. Highly recommendable.

J.B. Your sarcastic remark has been well and truly noted, however, I no longer shop at that store, so it rather fell on deaf ears:eek:

I love my new HP…which I use as a desktop with a docking station and a large screen. With that, I getthe best of both worlds, portability and large screen size.

BTW: I see you’re using Tesco’s site for recommendations.
Have they asked for half the comments you receive? :diablo:

Hi Bazv. My wife had the Compaq c60. it was only 18 months of age, and it just packed up for no reason. I phoned HP up, and told them, but they offered no help at all. It had not been dropped or damaged, but was beyond repair.

I have had a Toshibe Satellite for about two yrs, and have had no trouble at all so far.
In view of this, I went to PC World,(Yes, I know they have a terrible after purchase service) but purchased another Toshiba Satellite.
Hope this helps, also Toshiba has a good name regarding laptops.
