Large Scale Models

Hi All,
I’m looking for some large scale models of the following aircraft:

Hawker Hunter
Gloster Meteor
De Havilland Vampire

They are for display in a museum so really need to be around 4-5 ft in size. No internal detail is required.

Can anyone think where I may be able to get something like this?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 60″span Meteor F3 for sale, but I wouldn’t think of it as being to museum standard. It is a lightweight RC flying model, powered by two pusher props on electric motors in the tailpipes.
You say no internal detail is required, but what about the detail in the rest of the model?
I can easily take the radio equipment and power system out if you want the model.

Personally I would find some plans of any size and there are enough on the net.
I would then blow them up in sections on a photocopier and build the aircraft out of balsa. 5′ span should keep you busy for a bit!

It depends what you’re willing to pay, and/or whether you intend to build them yourself or buy a ready-made desktop model. There are some large scale Meteor desktop models out there, Bravo Delta do a 1:32 scale Meteor T.7 but the downside is that the cheapest I can find with a quick Google is £199.99!

On a cheaper, build it yourself basis, Revell have produced a 1:32 scale Hunter FGA.9 which builds into a very nice model. They were going as cheap as £10 a couple of years ago, but you might have to look hard to find one that price now.

I realise none of the above comes close to the “four or five feet” you’re looking for, but they are still quite an impressive size.

Large scale Vampires of any sort appear to be a bit thin on the ground.
