Last call for Corgi airliners??

I have heard via a fellow collector that the Corgi Aviation Archive 1/144 airliner models are shortly to cease production to enable the company to concentrate on military types. Can anyone out there shed any more light on this rumour….A great loss if its true I think.

I could have bought it for £14.99 in Qantas colour scheme, but for some very strange reason… I didn’t!

Allen, im going into town tomorrow, to place my order for that DC-8 in the 1:250 scale. :D:D:D:D

Neil, there are 1:200 scale models of BOAC VC-10 out already. I will find the site and post it up later.

On the warplane message board – there is a thread about Corgi models and a Corgi employee uses the board – try heading over there and looking for your answer.

Thats a shame. They are my favourite models. I did buy a Vulcan but I preferred the airliners. I had always hoped they were going to be a bit more adventurous and do some of the older Russian airliners (TU 114 & IL18).

The first model to be released in the new Gemini 1/250th scale range will be this DC-8. It will have retractable undercarriage and rubber tyres apparently… ?

Gemini Jets are moving into the larger scale airliner model market, I’m sure they have alliances with Corgi ? It’s becoming a bit like airline alliances in the airliner model business.

Gemini for civil and Corgi for military looks like the way of things.
