Am I right in thinking that with the sale of the two MK 18 spitfires at Duxford
recently that we are down to just one MK 14 [MV268] and if that gets sold
there will be no airworthy Griffon spits in the UK?:(

technically, being off of the ground it is!!!
How is the work on the MKXIV going BWB? Can we expect to see her this season or wil it take the season off? And any change to the paint scheme?
in all fairness i do like JE-J, a true legend.

AND The Fighter Collections’ F22 (PK624 is it?) one day!
I thought we were talking about airworthy aircraft?
It was when I saw it last September. Or so they said…

That’s true. There are only so many hands available at any given time so they do what they can when they can and in the end it all gets done. The other thing is that most of the available hands will also have been involved in the winter maintenance schedule as well so that limits what time they have available for the rebuilds/restorations.

Why has this aircraft sat for so long with no work being done on it?
It was bought out of storage a few years back and nothing has been done.
As it is the only hope of seeing a late mark Spitfire it is a shame it is not being worked on.
In fairness TFC have has had a great deal of other work to do in the meantime, Gladiator, Spit 18, P-47G, not to mention all the on-going maintenance. They all get done on the end 🙂

Er…I think you will find that its not MV268.
Its just painted up as that.
Looking at it recently,id hardly call it airworthy.

I wasn’t. 😉
I was pointing out that, though the UK Griffon Spitfire population (excluding the Seafire, BBMF and RR Spits) is on the small side, there’s bound to be at least a couple spring up soon.

The thread on Spitfire XVI TE184 had mention of the G2 Trust’s Griffon Spit projects.
