Last Halifax scrapped in 1971!!!!?????

Hi all,

While visiting the YAM at Elvington on sunday, I also took the opportunity
to get the updated version on the Halifax by K A Merrick. These books never cease to amaze me.
The previous version mentioned that a Halifax was still in a Norwegian lake and voila, some years
later NA337 emerged from Lake Mjosa.

In this latest version (From Hell to Victory and Beyond) it is stated that Halifax RG874 wasn’t scrapped
until 1971 in Argentina. This happened after the Argentinian gouvernment had made various requests
what to do with the airframe after the aircraft had a mishap during 1947 while in service with the Armée
de L’Air and the undercarriage collapsed. There is also a pic showing the airframe being dismantled before
scrapping. Nothing in the Halifax File apart from transfer to France during 1946.

Is this THE news of the century or what?:eek::mad:
