Well if there’s the demand then they might as well put it on. A huge step up from the usual 737’s though.

Wannabe… an excellent Idea, though I warn you I am headed to Southend airport next friday… loads of goodies to be found there. 🙂 Cant wait!

Mark, yep they do operate them, but Im suprised that the use them on the LHR flights. It has flown over two days running now. Seems odd?

JAT DC10, interesting! Didn’t know they had any. I will have a good look tomorrow morning for all the arrival traffic into LHR, should be a lot of stuff on a Monday morning.

I think that on here, anyone that wants to can put any of their sightings, either at airports or over there houses onto this thread, then lets say, in a couple of months we could look through for some fo the best ones and run a poll to see who has had the best sightings. Just an idea. Is anyone up for it?

Great list guys… very good.

I off to do it again in a moment, sit out there for a while to see what flies over.

Mark, for some reason it does seem quiet today, which could put a damper on things.

Reports later. 🙂

btw, just whilst i have been sitting here, 6Y-JMP of Air Jamaica has just flown over, on finals to LHR.

Ok, the flightpath in/out of Stansted is about 2 miles infront of my house so out of my bedroom window, depending on the runway direction I can see them taking off or landing. When they are taking off, they fly past my house at around 1500ft and depending on where they are going, either turn left almost directly away from me, or fly right round past my back garden, so I get an even closer look at them. When they are landing the are roughly 1000ft and I just get to see them fly past. As my house is situated right at the top of many hills, I’m pretty sure that if it weren’t for all the trees and other houses in the way, on a clear day I would be able to actually see the airport, as looking on an ordinance survey map of the are, it looks like the end of the runway is about 4 1/2 miles directly infront of my house. I have a pair of focus free binoculars which are amazingly clear, they just need to be a bit stronger to get the reg’s. I also get the heavy’s outbound from Heathrow to the far-east flying directly over my house. They are actually pretty low, I can usually make them out without binoculares (usually SIA 747’s, ANA and VA A340’s)

This is what I have seen last take off in the last 1/2 hour or so in the order that I have seen them:

Ryanair 737-800
Citation
European Aviation 737-200
Air 2000 A321 (new cs)
Ryanair 737-800
Ryanair 737-800
FedEx MD-11
Titan airways KingAir
Ryanair 737-800
Ryanair 737-300 (Hybrid buzz cs)
European Aviation 737-200
Easyjet 737-300

Flying right over:
Delta 767(Heading westwards at 30,000ft or so)
Falcon 90 (I always see this but can never make out where it’s come from and where it’s going to)

From Heathrow:
SAS MD 80 (North Eastwards)
Lufthansa A321 (Eastwards)
BA 757 (Eastwards)

Nothing special but I was quite lucky to see the Titan KingAir as they usually turn too quick before they get to me. The ones from Heathrow were easy enough to identify without the binoculars

If I see anything different I will post it on here, and like Andrew said, see who can come up with the most interesting/different one.

Well I sat in the garden for an hour this morning, and it was eerily quiet, heres my list:

Gatwick arrivals from the North:
Delta 767
EZY 737
ZOOM 767
BAW ATR
BAW B734

Gatwick KENET departures:
Ryanair 737-800 to EIDW

EGLL Southampton departures:
BAW A320
BAW B767
AAL B772

Heathrow Midhurst Departures
Alitalia A321

Overhead:
BACX ERJ145
Bell Jetranger
CRJ VP-CCR

Departing Farnborough:
A6-LIW B737BBJ UAE

Does anyone know where the ATR had come from, and what do ZOOM do at Gatwick? For some strange reason I thought they were solely at Glasgow!

A330 you lucky sod!We get LGW outbounds on a Seaford dep climbing out, most traffic descending into CDG(-the AF747s are nice to see)on busy days at LGWthe traffic going round the WILLO hold ,sadly not like it was pre 9/11 when all the big planes circled for ages in the morning. Can sometimes see Willo 3C arrivals as well, see these better at night behind the houses over the other side of the road!LHR outbounds to Cape Town Nairobi and J.Burg all go overhead in the late evening just wish they were a bit lower and Nairobi,Seychelles etc still went out of LGW –they used to thunder overhead at nightabout 8000feet !

It’s developed and currently makes a nice wallpaper for my PC. I did it on the tripod with a 30 sec exposure just after dark. Lot’s of red looking sky and cloud with the city as foreground and the planet as a little red dot in the sky.

Where I live aint too bad really in terms of air traffic.

I get traffic flying over from the following:

Heathrow
Gatwick
Fairoaks
Biggin Hill
Frankfurt
Charles De Gaulle
Luxemburg
America

BTW Ren, I would like to see that Pic of Mars over GLA when you have it developed, and when the piicie bit on the forums starts working again.

I wish I had a garden 🙁

Although the park across the road isn’t bad, if I climb to the top of the hill, I can just about see GLA’s terminal with my binoculars (approx 7 miles away) Incoming flights to runway 23 fly straight over (generally) before performing their final turn to line up for landing. Also some interesting high altitude stuff heading to and from the Atlantic routes

Got a nice long exposure shot up there the other night of Mars over Glasgow. 😀

I like to do that. On a clear day in my back garden, you can very easily make out the aircraft types and airlines flying overhead.

I trotted home from the train station tonight and as the sun set, a wonderful British Airways 767-300 flew over. Against the orange sky, it looked lovely.
