Last Shoreham….Possibly!!

Increased overheads and declining visitor numbers (the latter most probably the result of e bay and internet transactions) may well mean that the Shoreham Aerojumble on Saturday 30 September 2006 will be the last. We are going to attempt to keep it going and are looking at other SE venues for next year. However, we have moved from profit to just about break even and much as I love the event I cannot keep it going for love! So….we are taking a long hard look at its future. Hopefully we will do OK on the 30th….we’ll see! Maybe could take this opportunity, too, to remind everyone that it is the 30th and NOT the 23rd as has been incorrectly and unhelpfully listed in some listings. Andy Saunders

Yes, outside was pretty sparse although, in fact, much of that was due to the apocalyptic weather warnings and torrential monsoons that struck some of the SE early morning. About five outside stallers called off because of it and another marquee staller abandoned when he found himself in ankle deep water on his drive as he went to leave! That said, we had not a drop of rain in Shoreham and a good day of weather! We will try to soldier on Fly.Buy! Andy

I thought it was ok too, well just enough stores to make it worthwhile, wouldn’t like to see it get any smaller though! must have been approx 6 stalls on the outside of the large tent, never seen it so sparse before, although the inside of the tent seemed pretty full. However it was an enjoyable day out! Long may it continue in some shape or form!

It’s ok, I’ve got a licence ;actually its a dog licence, with the word “dog” crossed out ,and the words “survival knife” written in, in crayon (with acknowledgments obviously)

Public Duty!

My one and only purchase, was a dingy survival knife (with a cork handle), I reckon that it has been deactivated, as it is now incapable of floating!.. (although no paper work to support this claim was available…)

Stuart…you do realise that I am obliged to report said offensive weapon to HM Constabulary? Tch tch…. Andy

Yes, Mark, as you know my friends from the “Old Bill” arrived en-masse looking for someone reported to be selling non-deac weaponry at the last event. They found nothing, of course, all legal and above board. Still…made for some excitement although six Police officers left disappointed, no doubt, that they didn’t get a collar or three. Never a dull moment…..! Certainly an interesting day all round, but one or two notable faces missing. Andy Saunders

Yesterday was an “OK” Shoreham, but not enough to convince me it continues to be a viable venue with current visitor numbers etc. However, with the same visitor and stallholder numbers and reduced overheads then we can still keep the event viable. March for Shoreham has to look doubtful, but we are certain it will run elsewhere instead. Watch this space…..! Andy Saunders

So you heard the rumour as well!

It seems for mischievous/dubious/revengeful/public spirited reasons, take your pick, the local constabulary were tipped off about possible transgressions of de-activated weaponry paperwork in Aerojumbles past.
