Speak of the devil and the Top Gear repeat with him on is shown! Apparently he’s moved on to e-types, astons, bentley nowadays…

Must see if it’s on iPlayer.

I have only ever seen some Jools shows on YouTube…he does have a knack of getting some brilliant musicians on his show.

I agree that Jools has an irritating style but he has such great artists on that I dont really notice too much !!
Where else can one see high quality footage of an artist like this…

No friend of EGTC for sure. Changed his name and his country, well half of it, now straddling La Manche I believe!;)

I think you’ve actually hit the nail on the head there, Duxfordhawk. He’s a great technical player but nothing he does stirs me inside like certain pieces by other pianists like Ryuichi Sakamoto. He plays what he plays and he plays it very well, but the feel and everything that turns a musical note into an emotion is missing for me. Still no doubting the guy can play though.

Having worked with him and knowing others who also have I kinda think otherwise, but hey, we all have our opinions!

Musically, frankly he bores me but there’s no doubting whatsoever he’s a great player, and top marks to him for showing a wide variety of music on his show. I don’t really like the guy but I’m still glad he does what he does. 🙂

It is interesting to me that having spoke with a couple of pianists who said very similar, They said he is a talented player but lacks the emotion that many others have.

Personally I like what he has done for music and have to agree he can be rather annoying/irritating.

Just for you Joey, Red Hunter, or whatever you’re calling yourself this week 😉 I’ve dragged out my 1987 😮 book Star Cars. According to which, up to then he’d had;

Lots of Velocettes
Lots of Rovers
’52 Buick
’49 Buick Convertible
’59 Corvette (smug, I was right:p)

As well as the replica Rover gas turbine car Newforest mentioned, I seem to recall that he listed off quite a collection on Top Gear fairly recently. So the updated list will be on Dave most days in any given week then…

I forget, he’s had a long and distinguished list though. Can fill you in on some of his previous motors when I get home, but I seem to recall a ‘proper’ Corvette for starters…

Might be referring to the Rover gas turbine replica project!;)

Don’t know him, never met him and I enjoy some of his programmes but I think I can understand why you say what you say. He can be a tad irritating at times.
