Does anybody know the identity and provenance of the latest Camel restoration by TVAL shown in the attached thread?

The Aussie mob’s full name is The Australian Vintage Aviation Society, generally said ‘Tav-as’. http://www.tavas.com.au/
I’m not aware of a public maintained list for TVAL, but On The Wings of History 2nd Ed plus the NZ register would serve pretty well. If you make a list, please share – I’ve been meaning to make an album with a photo of each (I am missing several e.g. 3 of the Snipes).
The NZ CAA website only allows certain searches, Regosearch is more flexible.
http://www.regosearch.com/search/results/?co=nz&Nf4=owner&Of4=eq&Vf4=+The+Vintage+Aviator+Limited
http://www.regosearch.com/search/results/?co=nz&Nf4=owner&Of4=eq&Vf4=+The+Old+Stick+%26+Rudder+Co.+Limited
As they get registered, exported, or spotted they are mentioned on Wings Over NZ, searching on the reg will generally get you the known facts. They are often registered some months before being on show (e.g. the Camel was registered in Feb, but only seen last week).

They have the ability to build new rotary engines.

I don’t believe there are any public lists, FAB Tim.
Re Snipe – one of them, ZK-SBY, was in the hangar and can just be seen in one of my photos taken on Saturday:
Unfortunately both Camels weren’t to be seen when I was there.
Thanks for the picture of the Snipe, so that must be four of them (at least!) that TVAL have made now.
The one in the UK is listed for sale here:
http://www.pa-wood.co.uk/news/20151022-1.shtml
No price but of course if you have to ask…
I wonder how much this sort of aircraft would sell for – surely not Spitfire money as it’s “only” a replica but intrigued to know what the “going rate” is, I suppose like all these things it’s worth what someone is prepared to pay for it!
The work being done by TVAL is truly incredible and what amazes me the most is where they get the engines from, there can’t be that many rotary engines in the world but they keep the aircraft coming.
Do they share engines around them perhaps?
I have the Wings of History book – 1st and 2nd volumes – and even comparing between these two you can see how many more aircraft they have, what would be the picture 2 more years on? Time for volume 3 perhaps!
The replica Bristol has gone to Australia now though to the similarly named Vintage Aviation Society so that’s one loss but I am sure they have another one on the go based on the recent interview in Aeroplane with Gene de Marco.
Nice to see Chitty in the picture too – she must have had a long flight to NZ!

DH5 is a cracking looking aircraft also….
That it is. It has a more modern, flat-four engine though so it sounds wrong and has a smaller prop. It still looks the part though and is used as a trainer of sorts.

Would be nice to see a bit more of the F2B (Bristol Fighter) that is hiding in the back of the hanger!!
I didn’t take any photos because I thought there would be plenty of photos about from her time at Duxford :eagerness:

I love the large 4 inch face airspeed instruments and am currently in need on one
Does anyone make functioning replicas of them ?

The Montrose BE.2 on the Early Aero link looks impressive!

There are more hangar photos of Snipe ZK-SBY from January 2015 in my album

As it was my first sighting of a Snipe I made it a priority – still haven’t seen one fly!
The book ‘On the Wings of History’ has history and photos of each TVAL owned and produced aircraft (2nd edition is up to 2013), including statics for museums.

thanks all – usual comprehensive reply from the assembled company.
So it’s the one pictured on page 295 of my well thumbed copy of Leslie Hunt’s Veteran and Vintage Aircraft (4th edition)

We did this one a couple of years back: http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?120064-Camel-N6254

The first linked article has some wonderful pictures of some wonderful aircraft!
The very last one mentions “big brother and little brother” in the hangar – would the big brother be another TVAL Snipe possibly?
If so this could be their fourth one after the RAFM static, the Weeks one and the one that is in the UK (and currently for sale via P and A Wood the Rolls Royce dealers)
Is there a complete list of the TVAL aircraft in existence anywhere at all?
By: ErrolC - 2nd December 2015 at 20:05
Hopefully I will see it in January or February (an airfare sale yesterday meant that I booked flights to Wellington for three days trips from Auckland), weather willing.

Sure do!
