Latest news for the British Airways fleet

Here is some recent fleet news for all you BA fans:

Concorde – Gradually the whole fleet is returning to service. G-BOAD service re-entry took place on 10th Feb, flying LHR-JFK.

Airbus Industrie A319 – Large number now based at LHR. 8 BHX based machines joing mainline fleet in the Spring.

Airbus Industrie A320 – G-EUUB was delivered to BA on 14th Feb. G-EUUC delivered on 28th Feb – Both delivered brand new from Toulouse.

Boeing 737-300 – G-ODUS final service for BA was on 10th Feb. This machine due to be delivered to Go later this month.

Boeing 737-400 – G-BUHJ was at LHR on 24th Feb and painted all white. Will go back to lessor shortly. G-DOCZ was the final 737 in the old Landor colours, and was repainted into new ‘Union flag’ colours during Feb.

Boeing 747 – G-BDXG (-200) was ferried from Dublin to Amsterdam on 14th Feb for repainting into European Aviation c/s. This is now complete, and the airline has received the aircraft. G-BDXN was flown to Mojave on 5th Feb for storage. B747-400 G-BNLW was repainted into new Union Flag c/s during Feb, along with G-BNLY.

Boeing 757-200 – G-BIKO (former BA ‘publicity’ 757) was stood down from service on 1st Feb, prior to freighter conversion. G-BIKX was also retired, but on 7th Feb. G-BMRE flew it’s final BA service on 24th Feb, and is now at Lasham. Other B757 retirement dates are as follows – G-BIKF (31 Mar), G-BIKR (31 Mar), G-BIKS (31 Mar), G-BIKY (30 Apr), G-BMRB (30 Apr), G-BMRH (31 Mar), G-BMRI (31 Mar) and G-BMRJ (due to retire today!)

Boeing 767-300ER – G-BNWY is currently in storage at BHX, but is due for service re-entry on 28th March.

AndrewM – G-BIKY is being retired from BA service and will be converted into a freigher for DHL. It’s passenger carrying days are almost over…

Yes, and they have that recruitment centre…what is it called….Riverside or somthing, that is just sat there doing nothing. A recorded message greets callers with a message along the lines of “BA are currently not undertaking any external recruitments”.

Can anyone tell me what will happen to G-BIKY as my friend had his first flight on that a/c!!

In the picture in the link, that is actually my firend, Jed Scott, on on of his first flights!!

He now flies 737 outta Aberdeen but maybe tranfering to FED-Ex as better carrer opertunites as BA are going downhill!

All BA need to do is sell SpeedBird House and then they will have around £5 million to spend!!

What an amazing website. I just found out that the aircraft of Britannia’s that I flew last year (G-OBYI) has been leased to Garuda Indonesia! Cool!

I’ve just had a quick look and its brilliant…thanks V1.

Its got airline base frequencies and flight codes….as well as the actual fleet info (and that is very detailed)….its got the lot!!

I’m a subscriber to several mailing lists, but a really good site for fleet info is this link: www.jethros.i12.com – Let me know what you think of the site. I reckon it’s one of the best fleet listings on the web.
