A few from a lovely damp chilly day at LBA yesterday – my first trip there. It was a bit on the dark side but I wanted to give my shiny new lens a run out 🙂

The full set lives here – all comments welcome 🙂

Nice Shots. I think that the Asteruas Comfirms my suspicion of a 737-700 as i thought it was a 737-300 that came over hosforth Station as i was deboarding from Harrogate.
Was a -700, G-STRF.
Really nice shots from both of you. Paul, I really like that Austrian Arrows shot!

I’ve often wondered what was going on when I see all those Q-400’s coming in and doing really dodgy landings. Now I know! :diablo:
I’ve no idea what you mean, it must be the Belfast Dashs you see there, there’s no dodgy landings from Exeter 😉

Sounds like you love the place Deano 🙂 Excuse my ignorance but what does the “N” in “NTOP” stand for?
Naa it’s ok really, it’s quite interesting going in & out actually.
N in NTOP stands for Normal in Normal Take Off Power, basically means no de-rating of the engines
Stop whinging, you get paid to go there!
Paul
I guess you’re right, they say once you have seen 1 runway you have seen them all, but not in LBA’s case :D, it’s only the runway condition that lets it down 🙂

Come on, Deano. Don’t hold back.
Tell us what you really think of LBA. :diablo:

With kind permission from Ianatkin, (and having gone through my photos again) here are a few that are almost postworthy! The quality generally is fairly rubbish due to extremely poor weather and a lack of shooting practice on my part, but nonetheless, what the hell!
All shot using either a Canon 30D and EF 75-300 USM (My Bigma still isn’t fixed :() or a Canon 350D + EF-S 18-55.

The one photo I managed to get in the 7 nanoseconds of sunshine we had!

And a few taken airside:

Inside the Duchess…

Just for fun I’ve saved the worst for last for a change! This was shot at ISO 400, 1/60th. Not the ideal circumstances for shooting!

And one I really wish had been sharp instead of being blurry and rubbish!

Thanks for letting me tag these onto your thread, Ian. Hopefully see you at LBA again sometime!

Horrible to fly into and out of, the runway condition is awful, it resembles some of the worst of the M25, we always go out of there NTOP powered and max take off flap setting to get off the damn surface. Oh and you wouldn’t want your brakes to fail whilst backtracking to the end of Rwy 32 😉
Apart from that, it’s ok 😀

I must have been stood next to you when you took some of those!
None of mine made the grade unfortunately (well, my own grade at least), so I don’t really have any to post from the day!
What did you think of our little airport?
Paul
Yes, it appears I was inadvertently stood next to you! 😮 Perhaps your grade is a bit higher than mine… I started off the day with the ISO set far too low for Leeds weather so they were a tad blurry, but I got better before darkness and frostbite won 😀
Having only spotted at MAN until now, “little” is probably the best word I could have used! If only they could level the airfield out a bit… then I wouldn’t have kept losing wheels behind grassy bits! :p
