When I was passing under the tunnel towards Yeadon last night about 2200 i was passed by about 30 fire related vehicles about 10 Ambulances and several police cars. I decided to pull over in the entrance to Multiflight to find a Jet2 737 sat in the middle of the runway with all the emergency vehicles surrounding. Has anyone else got any info on this?

Yes about 30 fire related vehicles such as cars, trucks and the actual fire engines. By the time some got there they were just sent back because they was not needed. There were not that many police cars just a few to control the traffic around the airport!

The emergency services do enjoy a little drama.
What would you rather be doing, sitting in the hut polishing your helmet or tearing down the runway with the blues and twos going?
I made a precautionary landing at Albenga a few years back. Tower kept asking if I needed ‘assistance’. Seeing as how they weren’t going to be able to dangle a mechanic below a helicopter from the end of a rope I turned down their offer.
It was only on roll-out that I glanced right to see ALL the airfield’s emergency services standing by their vehicles which had been pulled out the sheds.
I can’t help thinking they looked a tad disappointed.

Fair point. Surely ’30 fire related vehicles’ is perhaps a tad over reacting to an a/c declaring an emergency?
Yes but mate anything could happen in this instance no one can predict if there was a fire or not best to have all the rescources there just incase, plus it cant help for the services to have as situation every now and then.

not really mate the police need to make the roads clear for other emergancie units set up a CP etc.

Noticed alot of incidents with JET2 aircraft in the past year, only 2 weeks ago a 757 made an emergency landing at Manchester.
What incidents?? engine fire, a few techs here and there but thats it.

What were the police cars there for?
Seems a little unusual for an airport emergency

Later that same evening a B757 of Monarch Airlines did the same, and I saw an Excel B757 land with the emergency services in attendance on Thursday last.
Your point being?

I heard that there was a fire reported onboard which was later tracked down to a faulty sensor.
