I heard it was to be an Iberworld A320, though on lease to TCX so therefore operating as TCX. No idea if it’s true though!

lukeylad, a bit off topic, but you are correct in saying wait until final programmes are announced as things in the charter industry are subject to change right up until the last minute!

In answer to your question – in NCL TOM will position their 767-300 into NCL on a saturday morning in order to operate the weekends PUJ/SFB and CUN rotations. Other flights to be operated by 2 x757 and 1 new 738 – replacing the 733. That is the plan at the moment!

When it comes to charters best to wait till the start of the summer season.

Ive been told that Thomson are basing a 767 at NCL for the summer then i hear there going to postion them in for the long haul runs. Best to wait new routes getting announced all the time. It isn’t the thing that airlines just decide over night they have to do there homework and see if a certain aircraft is right for the passenger loads at a base.

You keep saying why not a 757, but look at it. For the last four years this programme has been operated by a combination of 737’s and A320’s, so it obviously works. Also means there is less risk for the operator to start more ‘adventerous routes’, such as ZTH and RHO.

If I were you, I would just wait and see what turns up next May, can never be sure when it comes to charters!

I am guessing we will know something soon, i think the merger will have the Airtours company once again basing at LBA as a few years ago MYT only pulled out of LBA due to financial problems when they downsized their fleet dramaticaly. I think an A320 is a possibility but why not maybe a 757.

Hi

This summer’s charter based bmi british midland, Airbus A320 aircraft will not be returning to LBA next summer 2008. This is due to bmi not being able to spare an aircraft for charter ops next year as all the Airbus fleet will be needed at the Heathrow.

It has been rumoured else where that Thomas Cook could be basing one of the Ex Manchester based My Travel, A320 aircraft for next summers LBA operations. Some of Thomas Cook own ageing A320’s will be retired this winter and 2 of the my travel A320’s will be freed up by one of the My Travel B767 which will go onto short haul high density routes next summer from MAN.

The flight crew will be dual based between LBA & MAN while the cabin crew will be solely based at LBA .

Also doing the rounds at the moment are that an Iberworld A320 could maybe leased in to help out next summer for TCX along with other airlines been mentioned. Astraeus and Monarch.

FCA wont stop tha Faro route, i never understand how thats lasted 8 or 9 years. MYT only pulled out of LBA due to down sizing of fleet however the merger with TCX could bring back an A320 over the summer.
Maybe an airline like XL or Monarch may base for them, a Monarch 757 would be ideal.

It’s looking pretty likely that something other than a bmi A320 will be doing the charter runs, heard rumours of the TCX and AEU a/c.

Thomsonfly are dropping ALC afaik, and taking over the REU flight instead, though it remains to be seen what finally happens…

No still a rumor. Thomson will fly a 757 to do the usall run-MAN-IBZ-LBA-IBZ-MAN or where ever it goes on that day. BMI will base a A320 there to do the Charter Runs. Apart from the Usaly Pegasus Flight Onur Air and the FCA A320 do to the FAO run that is it.
