LBA Transatlantic

Apparantly LBA Management are talking to US airlines to have a transatlantic route next year or maybe bringing back the Toronto services.
Me thinks JET2 may do New York or Toronto or Delta or Continental might operate to New York.

I dont think it will work. LS worked because of the charter market and because they could fill the 757 with the 3/4 day break chucked in with the flight.

People argue that LBA is in the position that BRS was in a few years ago, and look at how CO made BRS work. They made it work becuause there isnt any other links to NYC apart from LHR which is to far away. BRS serves all of the south wales, parts of south western england and all of cornwall.

LBA has compeition from MAN with a ORD,EWR and JFK service all provided once or in EWR case twice daily. I dont think LBA will work although i would love it if it did.

It would be nice to see another airline at LBA other than the normal red and silver things moving about!

Jet2 flights were succesful, but they were limited time only charter flights. Trying to fill a daily 757 would be a completely different manner.

Continental and Delta seem to allright serving thinner trans-atlantic routes with 757s, but right now I would have thought they would be more likely to cut back on their thin routes, rather than start more.

Still, the best of luck to LBA. A scheduled transatlantic route can only be a good thing!

The Jet2 flights to New York proved successful, I personally hope Jet2 resume the New York service and perhaps Air Transat do the Toronto service.

I cant see continental or American operating out of LBA but maybe I am wrong.
