I once heard an approaching flight refused permission to land because it would be 10 minutes late. It eventually landed at Southend. The agreement to build and operate LCY contained rules to limit noise, hours of operation and ‘quiet’ types of aircraft. Even after reopening on Sunday afternoon there are few inbound flights.

Most of the runway can be seen from the river wall via the car parks. The apron can only be seen from the main road bridge over the dock, or the far side (but distant)

1) there is no viewing complex but a sort of terrace with good views of the dock and dep/ar aircraft, also, from a near-by bus stop very good shots of approaching planes can be taken.
2) It is easy to spot people around the airport area so we could meet at one of the benches beofre the dock and beside the actual airport entrance
