Today’s order for 50 NH-90 split between Germany (42) and Belgium (8) can be considered a mayor order. If I am not mistaken the first export order for the NH-90?
What is a NH-90 is it a new chopper that I have not heard off yet:o Take it its for the airforce’s 😀 Anyway some big and good orders there.

Does anybody else notice a real lack of activity from european airlines in terms of orders at this show, any so far have been very modest indeed & it seems that the asian & middle east airlines seem to grabbing all the headlines,to the casual observer who hears all about how these airlines are going to pioneer comfort with there brand spanking new aircraft, who are they goin to want to fly?

Sure, I suppose…but its not as “major” as an order for, say, 24 Typhoons or 10 C-17s would of been.

Well Airbus traditionally does announce a heck of a lot of orders at the 2 european airshows ( Paris and farnbourough) while boeing announce some but there % to total annual orders is less . Comming into this years airshow airbus had something like 400 Commitments with something like 100 some firm orders . Boeing had 400 some firm orders with 100 some commitments so it was pretty clear that airbus had a lot of orders that it had to firm up and they have done most of them . That is why a lot of the orders were expected , infact barring the A380 orders most orders were expected and had been committed . Talk about mileage the same QR and US deals have been announced at farnbourough last year in a gala ceremony to launch the A350 , and the QR DEAL was announced twice before that as LOI with the previous 2 inter. of the jet .
Talking about saving up orders and piling huge orders at air show boeing salesman randy tensenth has this direct quote with regards to that –
This coming week we’ll be reading about aircraft orders at the Paris Air Show. Some may even describe the week’s activities in terms of an “orders battle.” But not us at Boeing.
We have a saying: “One week out of 52.” ………….
But, a word to reporters and other observers this week: we don’t consider it a battle – because we ain’t fighting on air show ground. An air show should be seen as a celebration of flight. ……
So keep in mind it’s just one week out of 52. We’ll stay focused on going the distance across those 52 weeks. And we’ll find out – in the long run.

Im genuinly unaware of their practices under these circumstances, but it seems to be Airbus have been saving up a lot of orders just to announce them here? Is this (generally) the case?

More 787 News from boeing –
Dreamliner assembly on track, Carson says
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/320278_dreamliner19.html
Some snipets –
The airplane is fitting together very well,” Scott Carson, chief executive and president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, told journalists on the opening day of the Paris Air Show….
“I will tell you there are no surprises,” Carson said of final assembly of the first plane.
“Everything that we had planned for the plane in terms of how it gets assembled is on track.”
When Boeing workers mated the composite wings to the fuselage 10 days ago, Carson said, the left wing was only 1/10,000th of an inch out of alignment.
“We have never had an airplane any closer than that until we mated the right wing, which had zero tolerance,” Carson said. “It was right on the money.”
In a subsequent interview, Carson gave those figures some perspective. He said there is typically a half-inch to a quarter-inch of misalignment on the wings of the 777 — and this is on current production planes. The wings and fuselage of the 777 are aluminum.
He also goes on to explain what the entire fuss was about with the inch gap between the forward 2 fues. Sections.

Lastly Bombardier managed to report that the CL-605 has now been allowed for operations into LCY. Earlier this week three of them where sold to Air Independence (Germany) and one to Rizon Jet (Bahrain).
