Hi all,
Very surprised to see that according to Jethros, Excel Airways have leased both 9H-ADY and 9H-AER from Air Malta from the 01st of May until the 27th of May. Desperate short term cover? Whats up with some of the B738s? Why would they go for Airbuses with an all Boeing fleet?
Also MyTravel Airways are leasing a 757-200 from Finnair registered OH-LBX from the 01st of May until the 04th of October (Whole summer like G-CCMY last year). Will this aircraft be re-registered for its time with MyTravel? Interesting to see what hybrid it will be in…

Apparently it is being used to fill in some of the gaps left by the the departure of the DC-10’S ? To me that really does not make that much sense due to the difference in seat capacity ? Also again apparently she is going to be a stby aircraft on certain days.Don’t shoot me down if im wrong guys just going on whats being said on galley fm.

Infact….. I was at Manchester this afternoon and saw the aformentioned 757. Here it appears to be decked in Finnair livery. Im glad I read this because this 757 landed straight after the Finnair Airbus A319 ! Confused ? Here’s a pic of it….

Think its purely Finnair crews operating their own 757, so it doesnt matter what engine type it is. If anything goes wrong with the P+Ws Finnair will deal with it themselves.

Some of Glasgow Excel flights are being operated by an AMC/Azzura A320. With XLA flight codes, due to the late arrival of Excels 738’s .

If they are P&W that is very strange.
According to Finnair’s website they are P&Ws.

I think the flight will be an Excel flight operated by Air Malta. Very strange, but Excel had flights operated by Hola and Azzura (Who of course are Air Malta now.)

OH-LBX operated it’s first service for MyTravel yesterday as MYT254 to Alicante in full Finnair colours.

Last year Excel had a A320 from Azzurra according to jethros, however someome I know who is a pilot there said that it was actually used mainly for Excel Aviation charters, and the crews etc were all from Azzurra. Maybe its the same thing again with these two, or like you said it could be cover for some 737’s. Maybe the 737 from SAA will be late, as ZS-SJP was damaged recently.
This probably makes sense, as Azzura is now Air Malta isnt it? I know that Azzuras Faro flight from LBA is now Air Malta this year, and I think I read somewhere they’d been integrated? I can remember ZS operating XLA flights last year now that I think about it. From MAN?

Interesting about the Finnair 757. I thought they were all P&W.

Thanks for clarifying that Jethro. I suppose it isn’t that strange that XLA are using A320s if its just for the month.
Shamrock- Ryanair no longer use the Islandflug 734s or the Excel 738s as far as I know. Must have enough new 738s to cover the flights these are doing now.

I dont think every Ryanair plane based in Dublin passes through Stansted everyday does it?.I didnt see it on sunday and planes have been departing off 34 here in Dublin which meens they go over my house at about 1000ft and I havnt seen the Islandsflugs colors at all.
Most of them do! In 2 hours at STN you will probably see about 30 of the Ryanair fleet. Fair enough, some of thse will go and come back during the day, but over the period of a whole day nearly all of their fleet will pass through. Although the logo-jets aren’t as common down here as they used to be, we’re getting all the brand new ones.

Just to clarify. The two Air Malta a/c are cover for GXLAD / E which are late back after winter leases. The SAA B737 is infact ZSSJG which I understand was in Shannon earlier today, on it’s way to Gatwick. This a/c is being leased in lieu of ZSSJP which was damaged in South Africa

As far as I know, Ryanair no longer have the XLA 738’s. I see most of the Ryanair fleet over and over again pretty much every day here at STN, and I certainly haven’t seen the XLA 738’s around for the past couple of months. I think one was going to ‘Miami International’.

Don’t Ryanair have some (or at least they did have) of Excels 738’s operating for them lately? perhaps the leases for those have been extended further, especially if good terms were offered to XLA whilst Ryanair accepts new 738’s and continues retiring older 732’s!?
