I was looking at a framed picture of the Red Arrows today on an office wall and under the picture each of the Pilots had signed their name.
Big deal !.
What I noticed straight away was that some of the signatures slanted to the left and some to the right. Personaly, I am right handed and my hand writing slants to the right.
Do Left handed people write with a left hand slant ?
Should left handed people write from right to left cos its more comfortable for them ?
(Blimey…the C*rlsb*rgs kicked in early tonight !)
Seriously, I’m just intrigued about this phenomena (try spelling that when you’ve had a few !)
cheers
Gary

Right handed, about my feet, it’s like Hand (I even can’t stand the sight of football), mt mind is, ermmm…. don’t know, it’s too weird in thre, and my writing is also somewhet od a secret code. But sometimes i’m lucky, and i can read what I wrote 2 days ago…

RE: Left or Right handed ?
Hand
I’m also left footed (but play guitar righthanded) and I’m sure I could’ve solved the England football teams problem of a leftsided player, but unfortunately Ashley Cole got the nod.
Never mind, there’s always twister, I’m sure I can excel there.

RE: Left or Right handed ?
I’m right handed… I can do jiu jitsu better on people who are right handed… but I can do left hand sided rolls beter than right hand sided ones… simply because of the way it’s taught!

RE: Left or Right handed ?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-12-02 AT 08:44 AM (GMT)]As Geforce said right-handed but leftwinger.
However for some reason I’m a left “footer” .
I have never been able to kick the ball with my right foot.
So do my son: some kind of family disease 🙂

No, I was just joking. I’m really not that of a Che-T-shirt waving leftist.

I have a Cuban cigar hanging out of my window. I don’t like to go completely outside, or make the house smell.

RE: Left or Right handed ?
“Ive noticed that left handed people have to use really mangled looking hand positions when writing to keep their palm off the surface of the paper.”
Ususally it was the knuckles of my three unused fingers on my writing hand that smudged pencil and pen alike.
Of course my biggest problem was getting the letters around the right way.
Holding my hand at 45 degrees and with the paper also slanted at 45 degrees allowed me to slide my hand below the line I was writing on as I wrote. Awkward looking… but no smudges. (I am a rather untidy writer as when all the other kids were working on tidy, I was working on not smudging… I was just a kid, but it would have been nice if the teacher had noticed and helped me with the problem).
(I can write backwards fluently too and my lack of tidiness training means that now my writing with my right hand is not that much worse than my left hand… though much slower.)

A left handed freind told me the big problem is smearing the ink of what youve written while your writing when your left handed. Ive noticed that left handed people have to use really mangled looking hand positions when writing to keep their palm off the surface of the paper.

RE: Left or Right handed ?
I don’t think being left or right handed has any bearing on it. My children are both left handed and I was taught to use right instead of left at school – a practice they have thankfully stopped.
I read some articles on handwriting years ago and I believe it has more to do with the personality and how extrovert or otherwise the person is has a lot to do with the slant. It is posible to examine people’s handwriting and determine personality traits.

RE: Left or Right handed ?
I must be bisexual because I type write with both hands on my computer. But I do believe that you are correct in your assumption. I heard it at school, which was long in the past, but I also heard about silver and orange there, so it is probably trustworthy as a memory.

RE: Left or Right handed ?
I have a very hyroglyphical (Grolsch for me tonight) right-slanting left-handed script which has often been called some kind of unbreakable code. Neverheless, there are some vague reminders of an actual alphabet hidden which reveals it’s actually normal script. But in a highly evolved manner, of course 😉
Fun thing i have with being left-handed is that i can write backwards without any problems. Actually, my mirror-writing is easier to read than my everyday scribbling.
