In my opinion, fantastic! Not having been for about 5 years (usual excuses), it reminded me how lucky we are to have such an event. So many highlights, but as my mate said to me, “there’s always something going on!”
We were at the far east end, and it was simply enthralling to see all the wonderful formations and individual types taxying past, landing and taking off.
A older gentleman with an AG brevet asked me ‘..if the Liberator was finished’. Turns out he was a mid-upper gunner in SEAF. He had a blazer and long hair, anyone else see him? I couldn’t help him, didn’t even know there was a Lib at Duxford. But I shook his hand and said thanks anyway.
To the P51 pilot who unfortunately clipped the taxiway near the end of the show, bounced and stopped a little shorter than normal – I applaud your skill. Not applying power as the aircraft ballooned avoided a potentially nasty torque reaction. I hope the aircraft, and more importantly yourself, are ok.
Finally, THANK YOU to everyone who worked so hard to make Legends 08 the spectacle that it was. I heard that at some stage in the afternoon cars were being turned away – full up!
