Legends Gold Pass

Normally I’m not all that in favour of flightline marquees and all that, but being a complete hypocrite I’m thinking about a once-only treat for myself and my son, and getting a Gold pass for this year’s Legends. The question is, apart from the risks with weather, is it worth it? Has anyone coughed up for it and thought it worthwhile, or otherwise?

It’s my turn again, every year I seem to get a chance to say…..Friends of TFC, enclosure just yards from the Gold Pass tent, free entry to the flight line walk and you can even bring your own lunch…..regardless of the weather. Join via TFC website.

That feels better 🙂

Nice video, even with the fire engines.

Snapper and I walked into the Flypast tent a couple of years ago, no one stopped us. Just goes to show they let anyone in.

I would say yes.

Although having said that, having bought a Gold Pass for the last couple of years, I probably won’t this year as I notice it’s gone up another £5!

Whilst you do get a free copy of the programme, free entry to the flightline walk, a central spot for the day with a chair and a good view of the show plus a marquee (with bar) and some rather nice toilets, I think £65 quid is getting a bit steep for the privilege. I think £50 (what it cost in 2003) is the top price it should be.

I must admit I was a bit annoyed last year after paying £60 only to have the view to the right spoiled by the fire rescue vehicles parked in front of the Tower! 😡

Whilst I appreciate they need them, (I’m sure they could park them further back or somewhere else – I don’t remember this problem the year before) it seems a bit much when you are paying this kind of money for the ‘best’ view and you get this kind of thing!

If you want to get a rough idea of what the view is like from the Gold Pass enclosure, then take a look at this video I shot of the Spit tailchase. You’ll also see the offending light of the fire vehicle too!

A FlyPast subscription gets you the flightline marquee, free biccys and coffee and a posh bog.

If you buy the magazine anyway it’s better than free.

I thought about it and decided against it, it seems alot of money for very little gain.
