Legends tickets

It’s with great pleasure (for me mainly 😉 ) that I’d like to announce that this year I’ll attend the Legends airshow thanks to the kindness of my friend Ben (aka TEXANTOMCAT). After booking the ryanair tickets I headed to the IWM website for the Legends ticket, but I noticed that when u click the “book online” button it takes u to the ticketing page ok, but there’s no Legends ticket option!! Where did u guys buy yours??

IIRC, it’s only 20% off airshow ticket prices, but still good value.

Anyone attending Legends without a ticket could always pitch up on the Friday, become a Friend of Duxford (FOD) which admits you to the airfield for free as often as you like for twelve months.

1. You get to tour the museum with fewer people getting in the way of your pics.
2. See the a/c ariving and being towed from the hangars to the flightline.
3. get to watch the practise displays
4. get in on the saturday and sunday for around about half price

In one weekend you have more or less got your money back, supported the museum and get reduced entry to the airshows for the rest of the year and free entry to the museum.

On top of all the above you also get news updates from the museuma and FOD visits to other aviation sites.

I have been a FOD for approaching a year and find it tremendous value.

The extra few £s does mean you can choose which day to go for with respect to weather or if a total wash-out looks likely, do something else.

So there ain’t no ticket offices other than the DX one right? I guess I’ll buy it in place then.. if u wanna make fun of me feel free to do it while i’m in the queue then 😉

Alex

I’m not going to gloat as I did the same years ago but then I changed jobs and I found that if I hadn’t already got tickets my boss would roster me on duty and be very reluctant to change it, so now I get the tickets in advance so that I can wave them under his nose.

Don’t worry about it,I slipped up this year and left advance booking until day after closing date.
Thing is though you still have to queue and pass through ticket offices so the only real advantage in my experience is the few pounds that are saved.
Best thing to do is try and get there early to avoid the queues.

The old saying ‘book early to avoid disappointment’ always applies with the shows at DX and Legends especially. The unfortunate thing about that is that you have to know which day you can attend the two-dayers unless you can attend both days. The cut off for advance sales is normally about a month before the show though if my memory serves me right it used to be two months for Legends until a few years ago.

Hi ,according to the booking information I have there was a closing date for advance tickets which was 10th june.
It also says that terms and conditions apply, these are shown on the website or you could try phoning the ticket hotline (01223)835000
You might be interested to know that there is closing date for advance tickets for the battle of britain show on 10th & 11th Sept which is 12th Aug.
You can save £2.00 per person on any ticket category,
Hope this is of interest,
