Robbo, you will love it!

Ant: I will have to find a copy in hardback then.

I’ve got a rather tatty first edition copy of both the soft and hardback editions and the hardback certainly does have more piccies in it,perhaps twice as many.Having said that, the soft back manages to cram an awful lot in and there isn’t much between them aside from the photo’s.

Ashley, is it different from the paperback version, more photos maybe? (apart from a less floppy cover obviously).

Got a 1st edition of the 1969 hardback book…(almost) ashamed to say that I borrowed it from the university library when I was a student, and then “lost it” deliberately. Cost £25 (standard lost book charge) which I thought was a good price really! 😀

‘Tis a very good read 🙂

Robbo,

Which book did you order?

The 1969 book on the making of the film and the 1977 Time Life book are entirely different (see the earlier thread). There was a 1969 hardback (film book) but it is extremely rare. The 1977 book is nothing to do with the film but is part of a series of books covering the second World War.

I got a paperback version – got some nice pictures in it! 😀

Had a brief flick through it, and there’s some great stuff in there. A while back we were talking about veterans flying in warbirds they’d actually flown in – apparently, Galland managed exactly that in the two-seat Buchon, with the chief Spanish pilot in the front!

Also, very interesting facts about the Luftwaffe/Nazi salute which is seen in the movie.
