Ah nice! I see you got a cover already… I won’t trouble you about that then 😉

Hi Skyraider,
I’m writing a book, see here.
It’s actually been a very interesting process, and I’ve learned a lot about he Lysander that I didn’t know, and some bits either not well covered or even covered at all. Much written on the Special Duties Lysanders is innacurate, due to bits of the jigsaw being added over the last century, and correcting previous misaprehensions or surmises.
I’ve also had a lot of help from around the globe, and several forum members have responded to queries or with support, which has assisted in what I sincerely hope will be a good book with some new insights – well, at least, I can bore anyone with “did you knows” on the Lysander now. 😀
Thanks to forumites in India, Ireland, Scotland, England, Canada and the USA for their help so far.
Cheers

I’m studying several hundred Lysander pics each day at the moment
Just curious… are you writing a book about it or simply making a scale model?

Yes, Expo 86 in Vancouver and thank you JDK for being gracious and allowing the thread to develop.

Well done Mark.
It’s the Canadian Museum of Flight, Langley, BC, composite Lysander at Expo 86, Vancouver, now on show back at Langley. Theme for the Expo was ‘transport’.
Interestingly, the CMF volunteers had basically completed the rebuild of one Lysander when it was involved in a road accident, so against all odds, they were able to build another example usining various Lysander bits in a very short period.
It’s on display at Langley, still ‘transparent’ (most usefully) with the starboard wing removed so it fits in their hangar.
I was wondering why I wasn’t one of ‘the usual’ in Mark’s early post, and the penny dropped some way after, I have to confess, at which point I thought folks might like to have a further go. As I’m studying several hundred Lysander pics each day at the moment, I get no points as I should have spotted it imediately!

Pity I missed this! It looked like a Lysander from the start (I did a walkaround of it not too long ago), although the see-through got me confused. What a great display! 🙂

Wow beautiful! Is that the Canadian Warplane Museums example?
Canadian certainly.
Ownership then and now not to sure.

Not a European one per chance?

I’d thought Lysander but discounted it. I’ve obviously never looked at the rear canopy closely enough.
Wonky, yes you would but in this case it’s the aircraft that’s wonky. 🙂

Was it taken in Aus?
Nope.

Lysander?
At last.
Well done.
Care to guess when, where and why?

Vickers or Westland it looks to me. Any clues on the reflection?

Lysander?

I’m beginning to suspect it’s the right way up but “wonky”.
Wonky?
Would I do that?

Is it the right way up??
On this occasion it is the right way up.

When I said “Gloster” I had revised it from “Gloster or Westland”.
Was that a bad move?
Maybe.
