Leuchars Air Show on two wheels

A friend has posted this on a motorcycling forum: can anyone here help him?

Has anyone ever ‘biked’ to the RAF Leuchars air show ? My plan is a drop off in Yorkshire then run up to my sons place in Kinglassie (Fife) then we go on the Saturday to the show.

Is there any special bike park places, security etc ???

Seems a plan rather than sitting in mile upon mile of traffic jams.

(It’s the last one this year before Leuchars becomes an ‘army’ camp

Any info welcome. I have been before but in a car.

I haven’t been on a motorbike but have been umpteen times on a pedal cycle. I take the bike to Dundee on a roof mounted cycle carrier, park in the Discovery Centre car park, then take the bike over the Tay Bridge and cycle to Leuchars. Takes 30 -45 minutes and you avoid the jams. I usually padlock the bike to a pole near the entrance

Just in case you haven’t seen this from their website, it says:

“Access and Exit (On-base)
Pre booked ticket holders/Disabled badge holders only. Only vehicles displaying on-base passes (YELLOW) or disabled blue badge holders will be permitted on site. Motorcycles should follow this route (no passes required).”

here http://www.airshow.co.uk/travel/by-road

Hope it’s of some help.
