Leuchars airshow

Obviously not a photo thread as yet, but hopefully after the event!

Am hoping to go to leuchars airshow on saturday 12th, never been before, but quite looking forward to it, my first ‘proper’ airshow in 8 years, i wonder if anyoone could offer any advice on best positions to watch the action etc. Look to be a good show, black cats, chinook, reds, bbmf, RN historic and my first post restoration vulcan experiance and its been tied up nicely by the adding of an F-3 QRA Demo, could be one of the last chances to see such a site there

so general advice, anyone else going?

Where is the best place to see arrivals etc? Will hopefully be getting there on the friday afternoon and it would be good to see aircraft coming in, esp as there is such a wide variety in the static park

For the first time in about 5 years I cannot make it to the show this year! My mate who I usually rely on for transport has another engagement south of the border that weekend! I was planning on going up on the Friday (weather dependant) to maybe see some arrivals and practice displays, my mate did that last year and had a ball!

Leuchars is a great wee show indeed, not making it this year. If you are going in the airfield you can pretty much park yourself anywhere along the line and get great views. If you are shooting, however, save yourself £20 and head to the south of the runway.. Shooting from within the show looks south, so, if sunny, all will be backlit. There are places aplenty to go south of the runway to shoot. A great idea is going to arrivals day. Below is a posting i made here of last years.
Have a great day regardless.

Oh one other thing ,if driving go to one of the special park and ride car parks, I think it costs £2 to park (used to be free)usually there is free bus into the show, compared with £10 to park on base, and beats all the crowd exiting.. If travelling by train.. the station is under 5 mins walk from the entrance.
This link will be helpful for finding vantage spots outwith the base:

Hope this helps.

I got one of the seats in the front row of the uncovered grandstand so unobstructed view right on the crowd line.

Fingers crossed the weather is better than last year and should be a good show
