Lewis Collins RIP

People of a certain age will be saddened to hear of the news on the net that Lewis has passed away after a fight against Cancer. Undoubtedly ‘The Professionals’
was his career highlight – a perfect pairing with Martin Shaw .

And will we ever forget the classic Comic Strip pastiche of the show – The Bull****ters?

Never…..imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

You’ve not lived until you’ve chased a number forty-nine bus down a London thoroughfare…

…wearing only cowboy-boots and your Y-fronts!!! 😉

he could have been in the SAS were he not the possessor of “too high a profile face-wise”

Apparently he passed the entrance tests for the Territorial SAS but was rejected because of his fame.

‘The Professionals’ was required viewing in our household; I think it was the theme-tune more than anything else that made it seem exciting…

…plus the win-win combination of a Ford Capri and some cheap cross-ply re-moulds!

Lewis Collins / Bodie made ‘The Professionals’…..nobody I knew wanted to be Martin Shaw / Doyle!

He was 67

He started to believe he and the character were interchangeable and that he could have been in the SAS were he not the possessor of “too high a profile face-wise”

That was a little sad.

RIP

70 – perhaps.:( Yes a good show but significantly it was “Doyle” whose career blossomed although Collins did other work, I think without great note. And will we ever forget the classic Comic Strip pastiche of the show – The Bull****ters?

How sad, he couldn’t have been that old.
