LF: Macchi 205v in RAF/RAAF markings

Hello chaps.

Looking for any information and especially pictures of the (or others) Macchi 205v that 450 Sqn RAAF acquired. I’ve seen some profiles and I think she looks tasty.

Was this the aircraft photographed languishing at Tangmere post war ? I believe MPM or Special Hobby have a 1/72 scale kit with RAF markings as a decal option .

The Tangmere aircraft was a Fiat G-55 – neother it nor the Macchi 202 with 1426 Flight are beleived to have flown in the UK.

The only other picture I know of of the 205 is this one, from the AWM (although I do have a pic labelled 202 that MIGHT be the 205, if I could remember the difference!!)

3 RAAF also had a Macchi 202

Macchi CV-V

The Macchi you are looking at was captured by No.3 Squadron RAAF. All the captured aircraft they acquired carried the code letters CV-V. No450 Squadron RAAF also captured a number of aircraft but I can’t recall a Macchi Mc202/205 among them.

Have seen the photo (watermark and all – damnit)

But had not seen the profile (which looks accurate).

Thanks very much!
