OK, this is a bit of a long shot but I’m hoping someone out there can help!
I’m looking for a photo (or just the location) I once saw showing the fin/rudder of the Martlesham Heath Dewoitine D510 (in a book I think, but might be a magazine). The pic showed that the serial was recorded on the fin in the French style, with the type ID above it.
Except I can’t remember where I saw this! I’ve checked the books I thought it was in, but no sign!
Any help gratefully received!

Well, Britmodeller thread (<- that’s a clickable link, which is hard to tell on my screen) has an image from aft, but I don’t see anything on the rudder. And I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that you’re part of that thread. Still, it might refresh someone’s memory?
p.s. Isn’t the correct serial L4670?
Yes, i am and Yes, I can’t type! 🙂
Just wondering if Air Enthusiast featured the 500 series. At the moment I don’t have time to look through mine.

Hi John, it does, but as referenced in the linked BM thread, no pic!
I was sure I’d seen it in one of the Putnum books, but no luck. It was (I think) a view of the starboard rudder showing the standard French ‘type above serial’ presentation.
Maybe I have false memory syndrome!
Dave
PS – does anyone know how to include a ‘quote reply’ option when logged in?
