It just amuses me, for reasons I won’t go into, to post this picture of the Colt’s outing to Le Touquet on Sunday.
Cracking weather hey Grommet?

Just did a quick calculation.
Using the short crossing, minimum 4 hours 45 minutes (Still wind) might just make it in one hop with nil fuel reserves and damp trousers. 🙁

(And a fine Blue Robin pic it is.)

Overnight is recommended. Esp for a long sunny weekend with Mrs P 😉
Nah, I was just showing off. I understandably have very little photos of moi in a cockpit esp with the prop going.

Hmm,
La Baule, in a Colt, from Norfolk, on a day trip?
You serious?

La Baule was very nice. Here’s me at the controls

I’m with you on that, but for Chris’s first trip across the channel it was the minimum hassle option, largely as you so adroitly pointed out, for customs reasons.
We had Lille planned as the inland alternate in case the sea mists rolled in. I was almost disappointed when they didn’t (Until the beach volleyball match, and then I decided LFAT was a good option) 😉

Last time I was at “Le Took”, a French pilot got out of his aircraft just as I was walking by and remarked,
“Excuse, are we in France ey? All I see is English planes. Look, Golf, Golf, Golf Golf, ah..Foxtrot!”
Apart from the Customs requirement, why can’t us Brits think of somewhere else to go instead of making repeat visits?
