I hadn’t been to LGW in the week before, so while the school turned it’s back I went down to see what I could catch in the good weather.
I’m still not entirley used to my 400D, and I found that despite being at f9, most noses (on full a/c shots) were blurred when the rest of the aircraft was pin-sharp. So I stuck mainly to nose shots which came out better quality.

This blank Astraeus was recently bought from Omni air International.
The best catch of a reasonably uneventful day, Unusual to see Jet2’s 757s at LGW.
This guy had the best seat in the house! (sorry about quality, it was a really difficult angle to pull off)
Thanks for looking! Comments and Tips welcome!
Thanks,
Dan Irvine

Dan380 i was reading your comment about the sigma lens, i just bought the sigma 135-400mm lens and had it out yesterday, i thought it was a good buy, as the price of the cannon 100-400 was just out of my budget, yeah with my sigma 70-300mm i was the same getting blurry shots but there was some good shots too, the ones i shot yesterday were in not too good weather situations but i thought they turned out not too bad.

Thanks guys,
Alan, your comment worries me, I recently bought the Sigma 18-200 DC OS lens, it cost me (on my salary) an arm and a leg and i would be asahamed if it turned out to be the cause of my problems.
I have been told on another forum to only use the central AF point, I have now switched to that and hope to have better results on my next visit.

Hi Dan
Nice shots. I had the same problem when I bought my 400D and wasn’t sure whether it was the camera or the lens (Vivitar 70-300), so I borrowed a mate’s Canon IS USM 70-300 and the results were much better. I bought one too and am really happy with it.
Cheers
Alan
