Hi guys, before we take this too seriously this is just a proposition. Been speaking to Mark L, and we’d like to plan a trip down to LGW. The proposed date is Sunday May 1st. The reason why we haven’t said it’s definite, is because of the unreliable weather around this time of year. Aslong as the weather doesn’t look terrible when it gets 5 days or so away, then we’ll be confrim that we’re going.
So anyone in the London area or within a reasonable driving distance may want to put that day on hold in their diaries, and hopefully meet up with us?

East,?…is that landing from over the fields?? Maybe a 40% chance I could get there? 🙁
From East = landing on RWY26L. Over the fields? Well last time I looked there were fields all over the place, but I suppose the 08R end has more fields ;). 26L (from East) is the terminal end.

They land from the east 90% of the time, if from the west I will be down and able to shuttle about a bit in the car no probs 🙂

Sounds like they might be a good chance of this meet been a success, unfortunatetly, Jet2 want £66 pound return from MAN, not bad at reletively short notice, but way too much for a poor student like me!
I will get down to LGW one day, hope you guys make this meet a real success 🙂
Yer, it would have been nice for speedbird 12T and I to make an appearance, never been on a ‘meet’ before. But yes BA want 200+, and guys i got nothing against you but it aint worth it, and besides that i cant afford it.

When they’re on 08R there is a pub near the approach where there is plenty of space to park, and then it’s just a short walk round (less than 0.5 mile) to the holding point. From there you can get a good look at the aircraft at the holding point, and the approaching aircraft.
Does anyone know of anywhere to park when they’re on 26L? Other than the (expensive) short term car parking.
