Yeah that sounds about right. The last time I visited LHR I was graphing 09L head-on approach shots, and the sun was directly in front of us at 18:54 so anytime after then would be good I’m guessing?

There are two Japan Government 747s at LHR at the moment. Both due to go on Wednesday, so hopefully the weather brightens up by then.

Let me know the next time your planning to visit LHR, as you never know, we may bump into each other.

Cheers,

Alex

Thanks for that. I plan to go to LHR in about two weeks time when they’ll be landing on 27L again, and just wondered which bit of kit was needed for that location.

Cheers,

Alex

100-400 for all of these. all between 300-400mm, most at 400mm.

Cheers mate, those last two are just awesome.

Out of interest were you using your 70-200 or 100-400?

Some great shots there. Great detail especially with the shots where the pilots are visible! Particularly like the Air India 767 😉

I certainly need a bit of practice when it comes to air shows. I found myself at Duxford last weekend, panning objects that were moving in excess of 300mph. Only came away with a few dodgy images, so it wasn’t all bad. A 500mm prime would have been useful though. Lots of people were using 300mm 2.8s.

Any more LHR shots for us?

Cheers mate,

Alex

Well it was definitely worth it, by the looks of it.

It’s a bit tricky getting big lenses through fences, especially at LHR. You did well not to get them in the frame.

through the fence mate, no holes to be found around there, well dodgy to stand aswell as your about 2inches from the road and them buses are big. I’d stick to somewhere safer!

Some more great shots.

Did you take them through the fence, or are there any gaps where you can get shots?

Cheers,

Alex

super photos mate!

I am right in saying they’re 27R landing shots?

I’d love to know where they were taken from? I thought the only way to get shots from the southside of LHR was from a hotel?

Alex
