Lhr Meet 2 Report!

18th September: LHR London Heathrow Airport.

Well it was a good day, and I hope a good time was had by the guys who attended.

I arrived at 11am, and met up with Michael(T5) at around 11:30. We then headed over to Mrytle Av. where we sat for around an hour and a half. Plane wise in that time there was a good variation.

At around 1:00pm we headed back over to Hatton Cross tube station for the arrival of Allen(Ren), who was unfortunately 20 mins late due to a delayed flight becuase of earlier congestion at LHR (fog).

Ren arrived at Hatton at about 1:20pm. We stood around for a while, in that Time Allen let me have a go on his camera… I took a snap of a BA 757.:D Thanks Allen! 🙂

Dave(Kurmitz280) arrived at Mrytle Av around 2ish. We stayed at Mrytle Av until 3pm, due to the runway change in the afternoon, to 27R.

We all headed up to where the planes cross the road at LHR, to carry on with our spotting. After about half an hour of being there, we all recieved a very welcome treat… G-BOAD(conocrde) being towed across the road into the airport from the BA maintenence hangers. Between us we got alot of shots… one on Michael’s shown in another thread.

Then directly after the concorde crossed, a BA 747 was brought across too! 🙂

Kev called me at about 4:30ish to ask hw it was going. Kev hope you werern’t to sad for not being able to attend. Im sure there will be another one soon. Thanks for the call though, and thinking of us all. 🙂

In all a good day. Thank you to the guys who attended, hope you had a good day too. I look forward to seeing the some more of your pics very soon. The ones posted so far are very good!!!

And now for the VERY! long list of what we saw between us:

Yeah, the bmi Lounge at Gate 4 is pretty dire view wise… you’d have been better going over to the BA lounge at Gate 5 across the hall to wait, it’s got nice big windows, and what’s more it looks right onto runway (I think) 09L…

However, if you think T1 is a bit of a dump, you’ve obviously never been to T2…

What on earth were you sneering at A330! 😀
Ren, on the A320’s there is a plate on the panel to your right just after you board the plane, which has the reg, SELCAL, and aircraft type on. Very useful for when you can’t see anything at Heathrow!

Are you gonna try Planepictures and Airliners.net? 🙂 I think you should.

Dunno what I flew back on I couldn’t see the reg thanks to the combination of airbridge and complete darkness, I know it was in the new colour scheme though. T1 is a bit of a dump and needs a good overhaul, some windows looking airside wouldn’t go amiss either, at the public side of the terminal.

As for A.net and Plane pictures… I’ve put a few things on PP already. I tried A.net once and the pic got rejected for not being the right J-PEG format or summat like that.

I’m not that fussed really, happy to put them on here for forum users to enjoy. 😀

Concorde flys every day now, and whatever day you go there will always be something even more out of the ordinary than normal.

A good report there, seems like you saw quite a nice bunch of aircraft there. I read somewhere that Concorde does not fly on Saturdays. Is this true? As I was hoping to get up there this coming Saturday but if that is the case, I will have to make it Sunday. Is Sunday quieter than the other days?

If you’d spent the entire day filming “highland hockey” aka shinty, then you wouldn’t even make it to the keyboard ya big woose ! 😀

Besides I’ve just discovered I need to get up early tomorrow and go film the Rangers game. I need all the recovery I can get ! 😎 😉 :p
