Afternoon, my brother has popped down to LHR today, and i directed him to the 27R threshold, but he said that the road was closed towards the BA/bmi hangars, and that he couldnt get close to the industrial estate!
Is this true? Or did my brother take a wrong turn, which at 27 years old, he really shouldn’t :p

Ahhhh..gone are the days of shots like these from the crossing…. 😡

I went there today. You can still get fairly close to the crossing, but photo opportunities are far from what they were – more suitable for just watching than taking photos as you can see from the photo (ignore the shoddy camera work and the quality :p ). As long as you don’t spend anymore than you need to to watch an aircraft cross, i think you’ll be fine. traffic on the roundabout is now minimal, so i think the risk of getting spotted by the police etc is low – just a couple of workmen digging some silly hole by the fence.
the new route around the maintenace complex does provide some good photo opportunties though.

The “level crossing” was closed when I was at LHR on the 31 March.
The 285 goes “round the back” these days. 🙂

Is the ‘level crossing’ on the Eastern Perimeter Road just north of Hatton Cross that the 285 bus uses?

Jurys Inn clients must be loving going the extra long way around to T1 if they dont take the tube!

It has been in a state of redevelopment for a few months now… 🙁

You have to go all the way around the back of the BA hangars these days – the “level crossing for aircraft” is now permanently closed.

The road that BA aircraft cross is closed but you should still be able to get to the industrial estate – its just a longer way round. (back of hangars etc)
