A pic i took when i went to LHR with Michael (T5) last week. A rather wet day, resulting in this being my only pic.
Just annoying that you cant get a better shot than this, due to bushes and 2! fences. 😡
Enjoy! 😀

Wroughton
The Science museum collection at Wroughton is definetly worth a visit. As well as G-AWZM the Trident 3 they have a Dan Air Comet G-APYC, TWA Constellation, DC3, Dove, and more. All the aircraft have been kept hangared since they arrived and as far as I know have not been robbed of bits for other aircraft. Both the Trident and Comet arrived by air and are in excellent condition.
They have open days during this weeks half term of which the aircraft hangars are to be open on Thursday and Friday. Check their web site or phone first just to make sure.

Can the engines be run up???

Is the Trident Three that aircraft with the 3/4 cabin layout? That’s probably the worst design ever! It was the only airliner that increased passenger capacity by widening the fuselage .

Manchester are raising money to try and get the Trident G-AWZK(I think) up to MAN to go in the AVP.

That’s a great picture Andrew, very melancholic. It looks like an elderly animal trapped in a run down zoo. 🙁
Here endeth the philosophical moment.;)

The Trident has been at Wroughton for years, flown in when the fleet retired.

EAL King you contradicted yourself there. The post says “stored by the science museum”. I assume therefore it is in the science museum in London 🙂

Unfortunately, they can’t fly her out. Too many things missing to sort and would generally not be allowed.
The wings were shortened by a couple of feet each side when she was taken on as a ground staff trainer, so flying her is definitively out of the question!

There is a bunch of people prepared to help save it and are desperately trying to raise the cash needed to get it outa there and to a new home. They’ve raised a little over £8k so far.
The same people have been looking after this trident for years. The interior looks brand new and the cockpit is in complete and mint condition. They even gave it a fresh lick of paint a few years back. From time to time they power her up using a GPU. All the lights work. Beacons, nav lights, strobes etc. All cabin lights work, even the cockpit lights work 🙂
Unfortunately, they can’t fly her out. Too many things missing to sort and would generally not be allowed.
So they’re raising money to be able to truck her out.
All is not lost yet.
