Liberty Belle departs from Biggin

Just met up with the crew and passengers at Biggin Hill departing back to Duxford.

They waited for a hole in the poor weather – sure enough a small patch of blue drifted over for 30mins giving them a small window.

At approx 12.30, she taxied out and departed for Duxford. Conditions were hardly ideal – quite a wind and the rain clouds were banking up again, but I guess it was nothing compared to a transatlantic flight.

Pictures for follow shortly.

The Belle arrived in the rain at just before one o’clock, now parked next to Sally B. We’ve unloaded all their stuff for safekeeping and we are going to help them out with servicing and parts before her next appearance. More to come on the blog;

Despite living here I never got to see it once…

Heard it though!

It was nice going to bed at night in the knowledge there was a B17 at the end of the road 😀

Happy landings liberty Belle

I still think Biggin makes for a better picture than most UK airfields!
