Anyone know roughly how many takeoff/landings a set of tyres can last before needing replacing?

Ben i got this from a friend of mine. He said in these cases the tyres grooves get burned out, the upper layer of the rubber is hardly there which make the tyres slipery. Airlines have 2 methods to decide on when to change tyres. First is after a particular number of take offs and landings and the second being after a time gap. Most airlines take the number of landings and take offs option as it is more accurate. Load factor is also a factor. Cargo aircrafts get there tyres changed quite frequently.

Where did you get your information Kabir? I’ve been told that the tyre life-span is measured on sectors/rotations. The test is simply to see when the tread in the tyre becomes shallower than a certain measurement (few millimetres i guess)

I don´t think there was any average life expectansy since it depends on the conditions the plane is operating. Weather, load, use of the plane, state of the runways…and so on. As far as I know, quite frecuently…within a month or even less.
