A chippe made a forced landing on a beach at Prestwick. Just after take off they lost power and made a safe landing.
The engineers drove down to the beach fitted a new carb and the thing departed from the beach…..hope they brought their bucket and spades along.

The local daily newspaper put out an appeal today for witnesses to contact Hampshire Constabulary… I know that if I was in a sunken lane and a ‘plane came crashing through the hedge above me then I would be more in need of clean underwear and a sediative.

This is part of the story from the BBC Wales website:
‘Licensed radio ham Alan Kingdom, who lives a mile away in Cathcob Close, St Mellons, saw the plane flying low overhead and then picked up the distress signal on his radio scanning equipment.
“I saw it flying quite low, and wondered what it was doing,” he said. “Then the voice of the pilot came up on the Civil Aviation Authority distress frequency, saying they were landing on the Wentloog coast road, and that was it.
“They must have been really lucky. Those aircraft carry about eight litres of fuel and it’s pretty volatile fuel, so anything could have happened.”
Both occupants waalked away unhurt, according to Ceefax. I suspect (and hope) they were carrying more than “eight litres of fuel”, otherwise they would be walking pretty much everywhere…………
