And am I correct in thinking in thinking that this this is the plane involved?

Jamie R.

That is the registration quoted, not sure whether the aircraft was sold or not from that advertisement.

“After 45 minutes in the air, the port engine suddenly shut down, and, 10 minutes later, the other engine began to falter.”

Hmmmm, possibly a fuel problem?

Condolences to the families of those involved.

A VERY descriptive account of the crash and rescue by the lone survivor!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/01/25/ncrash125.xml

With reference to the ‘owner’ in Cornwall, this is merely a trustee.

Egg on your face Auster! Understand that the plane was N2326Y with a registered owner in Cornwall.

The aircraft from what has been said in the media was a Beech 58 Baron.
From what I have picked up had some engine trouble over the channel and was diverting to Cherbourg but could not make land and had to ditch.
Very sad news.

Indeed sad news, but your picture looks like an Aztec to me. I’m sure you meant not to make a mistake, but if the wrong person saw this, they might jump to the wrong conclusion about the ID of the aircraft…Apologies if I’ve got it wrong.
