preoiler
Ok great stuff thanks Britt. I know we are going to have to make sure our first merlin is completely preoiled before startup.

Peter,
I have seen in COPA magazine that some aircraft piston engines use a preoiler system to lubricate the engine to prevent damage on engine startup..helps to keep the bearing happy:D

It may be a spelling error but did you say you sell pre oiler rigs for warbirds?

Do any of these older warbird use a preoiler type system? I have them advertised in aviation magazines.

winter engine runs
Glad to hear that they continue the runs through the winter months. I know we were warned that once we begin engine runs with our Lancaster, we have to do so regularily to keep the pre engine run mtce and prep down. Something like once a week or every two weeks……

Hi Peter
Yes I belive the do run the aircraft during the winter to help keep them in good condition.
Lets hope they get everything fixed soon.

That is sad news..I had a change to see a an open day a few years back at Brunty and the lightnings provided quite the entertainment..they really do scream!!
Peter I was wondering the same about the long term storage of those taxiable airframes..I am guessing that you might want to run or turn an engine like that at least one a month to ensure that it remains in working order..those turbine bearings have pretty tight tolerance..alittle moisture can do alot of damage..

thanks for the post
Sad news Andrewman. At least 904 will move under her own power. I hope they get the snags repaired soon.
Question….
DO they run the aircraft through the winter months or are they mothballed? If they do then it is better for the aircraft to keep operational with short breaks in between rather than sitting idle for months..
