Does anyone know why the remaining wing sections and rear fuselages of the lightnings were scrapped recently? Their cockpits were used in that sci fi movie last year and they never returned from filming. Shouldnt of these sections been offered to museums?

I am sure museums that have lightnings with torched off wings would have killed for a complete wing assembly?

There was definately at least one cockpit section came back from the continent , it had been cut down the middle vertically but had been butted back together , maybe worth a phone call to Keith tomorrow to ask what happened to the rest of them . The film is crap too , definately not worth losing any Lightnings over.

There were six cockpit sections that didnt return from the film company that made the film(wing commander was the name) the rear ends and the wings were all scrapped at marine salvage

I have to say that I wouldn’t actually stampede to visit a museum displaying the rear 2/3rds of a Lightning.
