Now I think this is a great idea but probably not going to be noticed unless authorities also turn down the lights.
It’s also at night so most people are lights dimmed anyway.
What would be better if everyone buys a candle, lights it and posts a picture to this thread.
Nothing fancy, just a picture of your candle.

There were five houses along our road (including ours) that had bothered as far as I could see. All the street lighting reained on yet a few months ago most of it was off to save money!

I am glad you remembered the fallen, I must admit out of the forty or so houses I could see from my home only one other switched their lights off and put a candle in their window. I am sad that others could not show some respect for this day.
RIP to all those who died due to the Great war be they in the services or civilian victims of air raids or Coastal bombardment

I am waiting for 10pm now with my candle.

I’m not sure if I can put a picture up, not very good with computers etc, bit of a dinosaur in this area. However we will have a candle lit and next to it will be a battered RFC badge from an unknown airman.

If you wish to purchase a candle they are being sold by M&S for £4.
That’s 1p for every 1800 British War dead or 1p for every 60’000 casualties from all nationalities.
A quite staggering figure.

Hi All,
I repeat what John Green has put :eagerness: In reality though how many will actually do this ? or how many business’s etc.etc. will also act on this Idea ?
I remember traveling on the Coventry ring road one armistice day with my father driving when all the traffic stopped for a minutes silence, but I have never heard of the like for years since. I just cannot see it happening as what happened in the past to most is all to easily forgotten unfortunately in this day and age there is no respect for what happened at all during the wars that this country’s and others young Men and Women fought and had their lives taken.
Geoff.
