Lincoln & Lancaster photos

Bought these in a second-hand bookshop. They were, with others, in an envelope marked ‘ RAF display Farnboro’ 8/7/50. Any info on mark Nos, s/n, squadron etc would be welcome.

Mike – Dan Air Yorks? Rather! Plus Skyways and even the occasional MEA one too.

The Spitfire in the background of the Lanc photo is LF.16e TE120, late of 614 Squadron.

Steve,
Farnboro’ 1950 – Of course, the year that 17 Sqd. were there in force representing the enemy. Just a bit before my time but here is a shot of TE386 UT-B, TE175 UT-R and survivor TB863 UT-D all decked out in Fuehrer’s finest. I look forward to seeing the serial list.

Trouble is, there were an awful lot of Spitfires there, but I’ll have a go and get back to you.

Steve,
Would you have a serial for the Spitfire?

Lancaster & Lincoln photos

OK von Perthes and Mike Currill, here are the answers.

The Lincoln B.2 is RF350/SN-L of 230 OCU Scampton. There were thee uncoded Lancaster B.7s in the static park, so it is either NX673 on station strength at Hemswell, NX679 on station strength at Upwood or NX773 from 5 MU Kemble. The York C.1 is MW319/MOYD-U from 24 Squadron at Oakington.

Yes sorry, I have been meaning to look up the details and post them. Trouble is, all my records are at home, and I’m in the office, so it’s a case of remembering to do it! Anyway, I have a full list for that display with all aircraft and units, so I’ll try to remember to check tonight and post tomorrow. OK?

Fine by me Steve, thanks.
A bit before my airshow going days(Iwas only 3 at the time) but I love aircraft of that era

The Lincoln may be RF522, VN-L of 50 Squadron. They flew Lincolns until 1951 so this would seem to fit with the date of these pics.

The Lanc is a Mk. VII. It looks shiney and new, as though it had come straight from an M.U., unlike the one in your other thread!

Just over a hundred people have looked at this page. Surely someone must have some ideas? Are there no Lanc/Linc experts on the forum at the moment?
