About ten years ago I recall hearing about a workshop fire somewhere in Lincolnshire (arson I think) which consumed some Hurricane parts, pre-war types and some historic motorcycles. Does anyone have any more details?

Was this the one where the police found some guy in a lay-by suffering from burns shortly after?
Why wasn’t he ever prosecuted? Looks like an open and shut case to the outsider.

Hi Moggy
No not the same one, no one was found in a layby by the police “or anywhere else, at least not as far as I know”.

As in open the door, light the petrol, but forget to shut the door quickly?

It was my workshop in Downham Market. It was started deliberately, but not by me. I had the pleasure of spending 3 years in prison because the police couldn’t be bothered to follow up on the people who had made threats to have me done over and put me out of business.
The motorcycle spares were for Scott’s, and consisted of the remaining factory stock.
The original aircraft parts were a mixture of early instruments “many WW1 vintage”, Avian, F2b, Hurricane & various Hawker biplane bits “non of which were insured”.
The police refused to check out the threats that were made on the M/cycle owners club website by 2 members “strangely enough, the original website was closed down just before or just after the attack, and the owners club refused to supply the details of the site operator etc, to my solicitor”.
I hope that this answers your question Jeepman. Out of interest, why did you want to know ???.

Bob, I’m sorry but you can’t name names on here.
