Lisserbroek Museum pics

Hello Guys,

On the 29th january 2005, I visited the museum at Lisserbroek in the Netherlands. I have bought a Canon 10D camera with the following lenses:

– sigma 15-50
– canon 28-80 and
– canon EF 100-400 ultrasonic with image stabelizer.

I’m quite proud with my new camera, but I don’t have the skills yet to use it propperly. So I needed to get a lesson in ‘How to use a Canon’. I was very happy that Roger S wanted to provide this and we met at the Lisserbroek Museum. So we had a mini-forum meet.I had a very warm welcome at the museum and I will post some pics I took there with my new equipment.

Roger,

I know, I have made arrangements with Jan that I will be there at 11 o’clock.
Have to do work at our own museum as well so cannot spent too much time “loitering” :p
Got some Wellington bits and pieces to sort out.

The way those kills markings are painted was mostly seen on 355th FG and 361st FG birds, so this Mustang is probably from one of those two units, IMHO.

BTW, thanks for posting those nice pictures, Stieglitz!

I don’t have this info Dan, but I’m shure some local people might be able to answer that (Help Roger! 😮 )

Roger,

If I don’t have to work the first weekend of July, maybe … I wil see when the time comes.

There where a lot of great items there, but I simply can’t post a pic of them all. But to close, I wanted to share this nice original wartime painted victory markings from a P51 Mustang.

I also want to thank Roger S for his help with my new tool and also the CRASH museum for the warm welcome.

Due to my new job, I won’t be able to post as many pics as last year. But the loss of quantity will be compensated with better quality (I hope 😮 )

Greets,

J.V.

Which Mustang is that supposed to have come from? I see Deacon Hively’s 4th FG P51B “The Deacon” on the wall below the remnants.

Hi Jochen, yeah I can still remember that afternoon as we were sitting some 3 hours in an almost freezing (2 degrees celcius) abandoned and dark museum hall. Think it is time for a forum meet in Sunny Madrid the first weekend of July to compansate. Will be just in time to see the FIO’s Polikarpov in the air (or maybe not), attend the FIO airshow and visit the SPAF Museum.

Another thing, the swatika’s on the crashed Mustang are very crude ones, handpainted, irregular, and not in a way looking as the killmarkings now displayed at the warbirds which are, when compared to these originals, are way, and way to neat. BW Roger

But there is a lot more there. For example, a very interesting collection of engines which were recoverd in the Netherlands. Look at this Daimler Benz and some engines of the Short Stirling:

The first thing you notice when you enter the museum is the Spitfire MK IX reproduction:
