List of surviving manufacturing drawings ?

I am wondering if it might be an idea to make a list of aircraft, aeroengines, & ancilliary’s etc, for which manufacturing drawings are known to still exist ?.
I was thinking along the lines of the part numbers thread, elsewhere on this forum. Basically a list of types etc, with the locations of the drawings, & where possible, the completeness of the sets of drawings. eg-

ANEC IV MISSEL THRUSH. BROOKLANDS. 80%+.
BRISTOL F2B “MK I & II”. SHUTTLEWORTH. 60% ?.
BRISTOL F2B “MK III & IV”. SHUTTLEWORTH. 90%+.
DUDLEY-WATT DW2. BROOKLANDS. 90%+.
HANDLEY PAGE O/400. IWM DUXFORD. 80%+.
R.A.F. BE2C. PRO KEW. 90%+.

Does anyone else think that this might be a worthwhile thread, or can add to the list ?.

I’ve got a fairly complete set of drawings for the Nieuport 23 / 24 / 27 “Vee Strut” series, I acquired them from another forum member some years ago.

Very nice.

Are any of the parts drawings the same as those for the type 11 & 17 ?.

Cheer’s.

The Vintage Glider Club has many of the Slingsby glider drawings, plus a few other types of glider.
The trouble is that at least the Slingsby Kirby Kite 1 drawings do not tie up with the glider its self! So you would have real problems if you wanted to make a new glider from the drawings.

Hi Dave

Do you by any chance have a list of types TVGC have drawings for ?. I did hear that they had a number of BAC drawings, inc ones for the BAC VI & Drone etc.

Great idea!

DH Hornet and Sea Hornet ~56-60% remaining in BAE archives.

…. and a large number of these much closer to home! 😉

G’day all

It’s one thing to say the drawings exist, it’s another to have access to them. For instance where can I get DH60 drawings. I have a friend who is restoring a DH60.

Cheers

DeHavilland support group have a large number of drawings for early DH aircraft including the DH60.
I have been told that they have nothing for the WW1 types, & I do not know exactly which types they have drawings for.
I think they are based at Duxford.
I also do not know what hoops you have to jump through to get copies of the drawings, but seem to remember that you had to have an airframe to restore, before they would even consider supplying them.

Any one have more info on the types the hold drawings for etc ?.

*These are AFEE drawings, the ‘Airframe’ drawings were by R Malcolm Ltd (ML Aviation) and although all the drawing numbers are known their existance isn’t.
