Yep, just read that from another source that the MAM Avenger declared a Mayday. Contingency plans worked a treat, well done to all.

Went there in person along with an old friend. It was a wonderful event — one group of historic aircraft after another, banking around the World War II Memorial and the Washington Monument and then flying low along Independence Avenue past the National Air & Space Museum.
Already there are a number of videos of it posted on You Tube. Here’s one:

Saw a video of it landing on Facebook. Engine Sounded quite rough and made a popping sound like merlin’s do when they throttle back

Re Avenger.
From the BBC website…..”One plane from the flyover was forced to make an unscheduled landing at nearby Reagan National Airport. An airport authority spokesman told the BBC the pilot of the Curtiss Helldiver was uninjured after safely landing the plane, following a radio call to report mechanical issues.”
It was certainly the Avenger that broke formation, not the Helldiver.

Missing man with smoking Corsair, finishing an excellent display. Thoroughly enjoyed being able to participate.

The river is the only place to head if he had a big problem!?!

Odd…during the Helldiver and 2 x Avenger flyby, one of the Avengers suddenly broke right and split from the formation.

Where did the Avenger dive off to?
